About the Artwork

No one likes the one who comes in second place, but we’re proud of the people who tried. 'The America We Lost When Trump Won' is a parody of the 1964 iconic pop art image by American artist Robert Indiana. In 2008, Indiana created an image similar to his iconic LOVE, but showcasing the word "HOPE" on behalf of Barack Obama's presidential campaign. By rendering the word "LOST," we pay homage to the 2016 election results.
